Recycled acrylic approved by bluesign

Regel fibre, the recycled acrylic fibre from Thai Acrylic Fibre Company (TAF), Aditya Birla Group, is now bluesign approved, in addition to being a GRS certified acrylic fibre. In a Knittingindustry.com report, the company says this approval certifies that Regel meets the safety and environmental requirements of bluesign criteria, the latest milestone in its long journey towards sustainability.

Regel is TAF’s second product that gets bluesign approval after its flagship gel-dyed acrylic fibre, Radianza. Regel was launched earlier this year by TAF and was developed due to growing demand for sustainable textile products. 

The company says that its Regel product is a unique innovation as it is one of the first successful commercializations of acrylic fibre produced by recycling the waste. Waste accumulation and its management is one of the key sustainability challenges of the industry. Recycling pre-consumer, post-consumer and in-process waste to make new products is one of the preferred ways to reduce environmental impact.
