Closca offers washable masks with disposable filters

COVID-19, What's New? | May 11, 2020 | By:

Spanish company Closca Design has launched an innovative protective mask. Initially conceived to protect from smog, pollution, microorganisms and pollen, the Closca Mask has found an even more urgent use and has been adapted to be effective protection against coronavirus.

The six disposable filters included are the same as those used in FFP2 masks, which are approved for protection against coronavirus. The filters fit in the inside compartment and, as they do not touch the face, are effective for a longer period of time. The mask also comes with a bag for hygienic storage. The masks are designed to last, and are reusable, washable, foldable and comfortable to wear. The Velcro closure allows the size to be adjusted.

As a not-for-profit product, the company says that it converts the proceeds from each unit sold into the donation of five surgical masks for vulnerable groups in Spain and abroad. The company will be donating more than 175,000 units to those in need.

Carlos Ferrando, CEO and founder of Closca, says, “Masks are necessary today, but let’s think about what needs to change so that we don’t need them anymore.”
