Kusumgar Corporates, a manufacturer of technical textiles in India, has partnered with DRDO and acquired the transfer of technology for manufacturing a combat free-fall (CFF) parachute system, a recent news release reports. The CFF parachute system provides solutions for paratroopers jumping from as high as 30,000 feet, and the parachute is designed to allow the user to glide up to 30 kilometers and land at the desired target, the company says. It can be used in high-altitude, high-opening as well as in high-altitude, low-opening modes.

“We have always been focused on building strong capabilities within India to support our defense establishment and reduce dependence on imports. This is an important step in that direction,” said Siddharth Kusumgar, the company’s managing director.

Kusumgar has partnered with DRDO for several years developing solutions to meet the needs of the armed forces. Kusumgar Corporates produces technical textiles in India, including geosynthetics, medical textiles, and parachute, protective, ballistic, filter, and parasail fabrics.
