SEAMS to continue its Reshoring Award

In the Industry | February 10, 2020 | By:

SEAMS and The Reshoring Initiative announce the Sewn Products Reshoring Award will now be awarded annually. The organizations cited the success of the Award in 2019 as spurring the yearly activity, a recent news release says. The award is open to all companies that have successfully reshored to the U.S the sewing of any product.

The organizations stated that “U.S. reshoring is the practice of transferring offshore business operations or sourcing back to the U.S. in addition to any new or significantly increased production in the U.S. from importing. The Made in America Movement is focused on increasing production in the U.S. to strengthen the economy and bring jobs back to the U.S.”

Eligibility for this award must include production reshoring from offshore back to the U.S. or represent new production that has taken market share from imports between Jan. 1, 2014, and June 30, 2020.

Awards will be presented in three industry categories: cut and sew manufacturers; brands/OEMS/vertical retailers; and textile providers (products produced in the U.S.).

Request for applications must be received by June 19, 2020. Final applications must be submitted by July 17, 2020.

SEAMS consists of more than 200 of America’s fashion brands, retailers, manufacturers and textile providers. Founded in 2010, The Reshoring Initiative helps manufacturers assess if local production can reduce their total cost of ownership of purchased products and tooling.
