Toray reunites with Patagonia

In the Industry | January 22, 2020 | By:

A revamped Torrentshell 3L line of waterproof/breathable jackets will launch spring 2020. According to Toray, the debut marks the resumption of a long-standing partnership between Toray and Patagonia.

The 2020 Torrentshell 3L line has three layers and a new hydrophobic membrane, custom-designed for Patagonia by Toray. The new fabric uses 100 percent recycled face fabric derived from both post-industrial and post-consumer sources. The new line is also Fair Trade Certified sewn, according to the release.

The company says that the renewed relationship was spurred by consumer demand for long-lasting products and by Toray’s ability to handle the more difficult weaving of recycled fabrics.

Toray Industries Inc., founded in 1926, is an integrated chemical industry group developing its businesses in 27 countries and regions worldwide.
