Fibers from NFL uniforms recycled into fan wear

In the Industry | November 22, 2019 | By:

Global Fiber Technologies subsidiary, Authentic Heroes Inc. has signed a license agreement with talent agency IMG and its Football Greats Alliance (FGA), a division that represents retired National Football League players, a recent news release says.

Authentic Heroes takes event-worn clothing from an athlete or pop star to create a limited-edition series of fanwear. The company created a proprietary method to extract the fibers from the original garment then blend the genesis fibers with virgin fibers to create collectable garments, according to the company’s website. Hall of Famer Brett Favre is the first FGA player to work with Authentic Heroes.

Each product has a serial number captured in a QR code. As part of the patent-pending technology, the garments will be authenticated and verified by digitally encoding the fibers.

New Jersey-based Global Fiber Technologies uses its portfolio of technologies to create a cleaner, greener and more efficient world for the textile industry.
