According to Google, Cit-e Backpack by Saint Laurent (YSL), featuring Jacquard™ by Google Technology, is “the first connected luxury backpack that can control music, drop pins on the go, take pictures, and do more with a simple gesture.”

According to digitaltrends.com, the backpack comes with a new, revised version of the Project Jacquard tag, which adds a series of new features to the platform. The new tag is designed to integrate seamlessly with Google Assistant to deliver a variety of features, including a weather report, the user’s commute, news, and calendar events.

Four gestures can be triggered: “Brush In,” “Brush Down,” “Double Tap,” and “Cover.” The Project Jacquard app has been redesigned to make programming the tag easier, the company reports. The Tag is also smaller than an earlier version; it’s placed in the left “smart strap. A light indicator glows in different colors to alert the wearer when, for example, his or her phone has been left behind. The reminder also includes a tactile nudge.

The product is 100 percent nylon with a cotton canvas lining. It’s uniform sleek black color offers a minimalist look. The luxury clothing brand will have the backpack for sale by October 15 in its Paris and Los Angeles stores, or online in the U.S., U.K., Italy, France and Germany.

This the first of a wave of new Project Jacquard products, according to CNET, and at least some will be designed with the average consumer in mind.
