In the Industry | February 3, 2022 | By:

This year’s Smart Fabrics Summit, scheduled for Mar. 28–29, 2022, will be held on the campus of North Carolina State University (NC State) in Raleigh, N.C. This event, organized by the Wilson College of Textiles at NC State and the Industrial Fabrics Association International (IFAI), offers education sessions, product showcases, facility tours and multiple networking opportunities.

Under the theme of “Disruption, Innovation, and Getting ‘Back to the Future’,” the Summit will bring together market segments that need to collaborate for the smart fabrics industry to meet its full potential and accelerate its development by U.S. manufacturers.

Despite incredibly difficult circumstances, the pandemic has created an environment for innovation in smart fabrics. New manufacturing processes, rapid prototyping and innovations in flexible sensors, power sources and fabric weaving have all been amplified by the urgent need to support the medical industry in the fight against COVID-19.

Topics of discussion at Smart Fabrics Summit will include

• Biomedical monitoring in aerospace

• The state of the smart fabrics industry

• Technologies for advanced textile systems

• Application of smart textiles to the validation of wearable technology

• How smart textiles can service consumer, enterprise and government applications

Additionally, thirty-minute tours will be offered of the Wilson College of Textiles labs and the ASSIST Center, a state-of-the-art research facility. Tours of each facility will happen concurrently and rotate to maximize participation. Each tour group can accommodate approximately 10-15 participants.

Special rates are available for students and a limited number of government representatives. Visit https://smartfabricssummit.com/ for more information or contact IFAI at events@ifai.com
