Registration is now open for the Smart Fabrics Summit 2022, which will be held at North Carolina State University (NC State), Raleigh, N.C. March 28-29. This event offers education, product showcases, facility tours and networking opportunities.
Speakers currently scheduled include:
- Dr. Amanda Mills, a fusion designer and project coordinator in the Nano-EXtended Textiles (NEXT) research group in the Wilson College of Textiles at NC State. Her focus is on developing innovative methods for electronics integration into textiles.
- Dr. Jan Beringer serves as the senior scientific expert for Hohenstein Institute America. In this role, he uses an interdisciplinary approach to lead the development of clothing physiology, fit and workmanship of garments, functionalization of fabrics, textile UV protection and textile reprocessing.
- Adam Curry is the innovation ecosystem director, Center for Advanced Self-Powered Systems of Integrated Sensors and Technologies (ASSIST) and has worked extensively with internal and external stakeholders to develop technologies and drive them to market.
- Michelle Farrington, vice president of strategic growth, Advanced Functional Fabrics of America (AFFOA), has extensive work experience in commercializing new technologies including MEMS inertial sensors, energy harvesting and e-textiles. She has held roles in manufacturing, product and technology development and business strategy.
- Erin Parker is a graduate research assistant, Athlete Engineering, Mississippi State University, working on developing new wearable technology products and investigating standardization and test methods of E-Textiles and wearables.
- David Saucier, research engineer, Human Factors and Athlete Engineering, Mississippi State University, assists with planning, design, implementation, and data analysis for multiple studies validating stretch sensor technology as a means for collecting motion data in comparison to gold standard technology. He is also the lab lead for the Human Performance Lab.
- Dr. George Sun is CEO and founder of Nextiles Inc. The company was spun out from MIT after being awarded three patents around the domain of fabric-based sensors.
The event is organized by the Wilson College of Textiles, NC State and the Industrial Fabrics Association International (IFAI).
