Hologenix announces collaboration with Designtex

In the Industry | March 19, 2020 | By:

Hologenix LLC has announced a collaboration with Designtex to launch Designtex Celliant upholstery. Celliant, invented by Hologenix, is a blend of naturally occurring, thermo-reactive minerals that are applied as a nonwoven backing. The minerals capture and convert body heat into infrared energy, which, according to the company, has been clinically shown to increase local circulation and improve cellular oxygenation, as well as help regulate body temperature.

“We like to think of this new collection as charging stations for people,” said Susan Lyons, Designtex president. The technology is intended to provide “health and wellness benefits for sedentary moments, like an office worker in their chair or a person sitting in a waiting room,” Lyons said.

The new line of upholstery includes four fabrics and fifty colors and is seen by the companies as a way for textiles to make environments better for the people who work in them.

Celliant is a clinically tested textile technology that converts body heat into infrared energy. The U.S. Food and Drug Administration has determined that Celliant products are medical devices as defined in section 201(h) of the Federal Food, Drug and Cosmetic Act and are general wellness products. Designtex provides development, design and manufacturing of applied materials for the built environment.
