Truetzschler discusses technology for cotton fiber in wipes

March 12th, 2020 / By: / EcoNote

Cotton’s strength, absorbent capacity and softness make it ideal for single-use dry and wet wipes, Truetzschler says in a recent news release. It also notes that price and variability in quality can make cotton a secondary choice over viscose/polyester blends. At INDEX 2020, the company will discuss technologies that may make cotton a more sustainable and efficient choice.

According to the release, by introducing new line concepts for efficiently making cotton nonwovens for wipes or hygiene textiles, Truetzschler Nonwovens will address cotton’s challenges. The company asserts that proven technologies exist that “reliably turn even comber noils, short or unbleached cotton fibers into high-value products.”

The company also plans to showcase Truetzschler and Voith’s wet-laying/spunlacing (WLS) technology and will discuss opportunities of WLS lines and WLS in combination with other technologies for providing consumers with eco-friendly, sustainable and affordable single-use nonwoven products, the release stated.

Truetzschler brand applies technology globally in the areas of spinning preparation, card clothing and nonwovens and bulk continuous filament.
