Latest Tencel Luxe plant

EcoNote | February 13, 2020 | By:

Lenzing has completed the second pilot production plant for its filament yarn Tencel Luxe, according to an Innovation in Textiles article. The yarn is designed to be suitable for fine fabrics and to blend with wool, cashmere and silk in scarves, ties, blouses, dresses, shirts, ties and linings of suits.

The company sees Tencel Luxe as an opportunity to embed sustainability in the luxury market. “Many luxury brands have already realized what opportunities they would have by using this yarn made of the renewable raw material wood,” said Stefan Doboczky, chief executive officer of the Lenzing Group.

The new pilot production line will build on knowledge gained from operation of the first pilot plant and will capitalize on the new automation models. Lenzing is also planning a large commercial production plant at the company’s site.
