Carnegie Fabrics textile Biobased Xorel, sourced from sugar cane, has garnered Living Product Challenge certification, according to a recent news release.

The Living Product Challenge is a program of the International Living Future Institute. The program assesses a product’s life cycle, social equity and material health effects. This framework aims to help manufacturers design and offer products with measurable net positive impacts. The company reported that the program requires disclosure of ingredients as well as environmental impacts using ISO-compliant life cycle assessment.

Biobased Xorel was designed as a plant-based, high-performance textile to serve the commercial interiors industry. Carnegie was included in B Lab’s Environment category of the 2018 Best for the World list recognizing businesses scoring in the top 10 percent of certified B corporations.
