What's New? | December 5, 2019 | By:

Lycra has launched its new Lycra FitSense technology for swimwear. A recent article in KnittingIndustry reported that the technology is screen-printed onto fabric containing Lycra fiber. The aim is to eliminate extra weight and seams that could restrict movement or cause discomfort.

Lycra FitSense contains the same molecule as Lycra fiber, but in liquid form, which can be screen-printed for visual effects, like color blocks and patterns, and combined with lightweight support or compression. The company reported that the technology is applied via a standard screen-printing process using a water-based, solvent-free dispersion.

The technology is designed to provide zones of targeted lifting and shaping without the addition of padding, panels or lining. According to the company, Lycra FitSense technology can also be molded for added support and definition in the bust area. The company launched Lycra FitSense in active wear and intimate apparel and has now applied it to swimwear. Other applications are expected for the athleisure and denim markets and commercial programs are available for leggings, sports bras, shapewear and fitness collections.
