Ecco and BASF work on 3D printing for footwear

EcoNote | June 20, 2019 | By:

Danish shoe manufacturer Ecco and German chemistry firm BASF are partnering on a new footwear project. Trials have taken place at Ecco’s research and development center in Denmark to test the combination of BASF 3D printing materials and Origin’s open additive printing platform.

An article on sportstextiles.com says that Ecco’s goal for the project is to establish additive manufacturing as one solution for mass-producing footwear. The project aims to tune Origin’s printing system to BASF’s Ultracur3D photopolymer materials to achieve high processing speeds, good surface stability, and excellent detail accuracy.
