DuPont and NIPI will create a new down fabric 

DuPont Industrial Biosciences (DuPont) and Natural Insulation Products Inc. (NIPI) are collaborating to create a seamless sheet of down fabric. A recent release from the companies says the partnership will yield a “new category of insulation.”

The fabric will use the Thindown proprietary process to combine DuPont bio-based Sorona fibers and Thindown down fabric. The blend is expected to reduce cold spots and build in greater movement in garments by using a single sheet of fabric versus quilted sections of down.

NIPI uses a proprietary process to create Thindown, which transforms traditional down filling into a seamless sheet of material.
