Industry News, News | February 5, 2019 | By:

According to a new study published by Fact.MR, global flame retardant (FR) apparel sales reached nearly 192 million square meters in 2018, with momentum likely to drive the market to a 6.2 percent year-over-year increase in 2019.

The Fact.MR study on the FR apparel market analyzes demand and supply for FR apparel across mining, petrochemical, oil  and gas, power, and automotive and transportation industries. According to the study, the oil and gas sector remains the largest consumer of FR apparel.

The EU is at the forefront of global FR apparel demand, with over one-third volume share in 2018. The mandatory conformity to the Regulation (EU) 2016/425 adopted by the European Commission has been instrumental in boosting growth of the Europe flame market, the study says.

Driving factors for growth include enforcement of stringent regulatory rules and increasing awareness about worker safety in high-risk industries worldwide. The report projects that effective implementation of workplace safety guidelines around the globe can open up new opportunities for manufacturers.

The study predicts that this market will grow at a 6.5 percent volume compound annual growth rate through 2027.
