Huntsman, Chemours expand alliance

Huntsman Textile Effects and The Chemours Company FC, LLC have agreed to expand their long-term alliance in the area of durable water repellence (DWR). The expansion of research and development, marketing, technical support and manufacturing is expected to also expand the two companies’ commitment to sustainability.

In addition to fluorinated solutions, the companies will now be able to offer non-fluorinated alternatives, as well. Together, Huntsman Textile Effects and Chemours have worked to develop products that support the textile industry’s transition from long-chain water repellent products to more environmentally friendly short-chain chemistry and non-fluorinated chemistry.

The alliance builds on current products. Chemours Teflon Eco Dry with Zelan R2 PLUS technology was recently introduced and contains 30 percent renewably sourced plant-based raw materials. Huntsman Textile Effects PHOBOTEX RSY non-fluorinated durable water repellent was developed to meet protection, comfort and durability requirements for both synthetic and cellulosic fibers.
