Lakeland Industries has announced the appointment of Charles D. Roberson to the position of chief operating officer. Roberson’s appointment is a promotion from his role as the company’s senior vice president, head of international sales, and research and development.
He joined Lakeland in 2004 as technical marketing manager and later served as international sales manager. The recent release stated that Roberson’s career in textiles spans 33 years, 27 of which are in the PPE industry. He holds six patents for PPE fabrics and garments and was the designer of Lakeland’s ChemMAX chemical protection product line.
His experience in the industry is expected to “accelerate the company’s new product initiatives,” which include domestic and worldwide launches of arc- and flame-resistant rated rainwear for the electric and gas utility sectors and disposable garments for pharmaceutical clean room applications.
