Lenzing to produce EcoVero™ in China

EcoNote | May 23, 2018 | By:

The Lenzing Group marks a new milestone in its sustainability journey: It is introducing the eco-responsible process for the production of Lenzing™ EcoVero™ branded viscose fibers in Nanjing, China.

The environmental awareness of consumers has been steadily growing over the past decade, and especially more recently in the fashion and textile industry. Textile consumption is expected to double by 2025, and the industry is looking for more sustainable solutions with low environmental impact.

Lenzing’s sustainable viscose fibers are derived from sustainable wood and pulp, coming from certified and controlled sources (FSC® or PEFC™ certified) following the stringent guidelines of the Lenzing Wood and Pulp Policy. These fibers can be robustly identified in the final product, offering greater transparency to the industry.

The company enforces strict environmental standards during viscose production and has invested heavily over the years to achieve an eco-responsible production process. Both the Lenzing site, as well as the production location in Nanjing, comply with the guidelines of the EU Ecolabel, awarded only to products and services which have a significantly lower environmental impact throughout their lifecycle from raw material extraction, to production, distribution and disposal.
