CEOs demo their companies’ bobsled suits

Industry News | March 9, 2018 | By:

HeiQ and KJUS sponsored tailor-made bob suits for a special event at the Olympia Bob Run St.Moritz–Celerina in the Engadine Valley, Switzerland. Skintight and aerodynamic suits are essential to reduce drag on the way into the bobsled and down the run. The gear includes a proprietary HeiQ finishing technology intended to minimize air resistance and enhance quick-dry properties.

The Cristal Da Glatsch club supports the Swiss run, which is reported to be the oldest and only natural ice track in the world. The club held the race on March 1, 2018, with the CEOs  of HeiQ, KJUS, Comitas and Mia Engiadina sharing bobsleds with experienced Swiss world champions, like Marcel Rohner and Cla Mosca, to race downhill at more than 130 kilometers per hour.

“A state of play is critical to innovation,” Carlo Centonze, CEO of HeiQ, said. After he had flown down the track he added, “It was really cold. We need to add heating technology to this textile.”

Founded in 2005 as a spinoff from the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology Zurich, HeiQ leverages its academic research network and internal development specialists to invent textile technologies. Swiss company KJUS was founded in 2000 and owns subsidiaries in North America, Germany and Austria which sell products in more than 32 countries.
