More sustainable carpet yarns developed

EcoNote | February 6, 2018 | By:

A new platform of yarns for home textiles is being produced as a collaboration between DuPont and Wools of New Zealand (WoNZ). The new yarns are meant to offer performance characteristics within a more eco-friendly profile, DuPont reports.

The yarns will tap WoNZ source traceability, patented technology and the company’s commitment to “connect the people who grow our fiber with the end consumer,” as WoNZ Chief Executive Rosstan Mazey noted. DuPont’s Industrial Biosciences division brings its commitment to bio-sustainable performance materials.

The new line of home textile yarns, including carpet yarns, is scheduled for release later in 2018.

Wools of New Zealand, a 100 percent New Zealand grower-owned company, grows wool knowing its intended purpose and delivers it to international brands. DuPont Industrial Biosciences, a business unit of DowDuPont Specialty Products, works with customers across a wide range of industries to make products and industrial processes more efficient and sustainable.
