Woven textiles for room acoustics

EcoNote | June 23, 2017 | By:

Snowsound-Fiber launched a new line of woven textiles intended to optimize room acoustics. The fabrics can be used for window shades, curtains, partitions, draperies, upholstery, canopies and other applications.

The Snowsound-Fiber acoustic fabrics will initially be available in 41 texture/color combinations. The textiles come in six different patented microscopic weave geometries, each offering a distinct tactile experience. Made from 100 percent polyester fiber, these textiles are flammability tested, GREENGUARD Gold certified and 100 percent recyclable.  All have been tested for color fastness and abrasion. Five types can be washed; one of these has bacteriostatic, fused silver ions, intended for use in health care environments.

The company’s new portfolio includes Diesis, shaped polyester sound-absorbing drapery; Giotto, a room fixture that can be wall- or ceiling-mounted; Snowsound Art, an acoustic panel designed with graphic art by Gillo Dorfles; and Oversize Baffle, which expands the company’s current baffle options. All new products will be available the last quarter of 2017.

Snowsound acoustic panels have received numerous awards, including the 2014, 2015 and 2016 Best of NeoCon Silver Awards for architectural, space divider and wall treatment products and the 2014 CES Innovations Award for design and engineering.
