Polartec® introduces Polartec Power Fill™

What's New? | June 20, 2017 | By:

Polartec® has announced a new material designed as a passive insulation solution for the coldest conditions. Power Fill™ is a soft and pliable matrix of polyester fibers engineered with a proprietary hollow fiber construction forming thousands of air pockets that continuously capture and contain body heat and maintains an equalized thermal layer between the elements and the wearer.

The company’s controlled melt process bonds the hollow fibers, eliminating the need for scrims or other stabilizers. The polyester fiber’s inherent hydrophobic properties also work to ensure it resists moisture absorption and dries quickly, while maintaining a high warmth-to-weight ratio. The material is made with cruelty-free, 80 percent post-consumer recycled content.

The new product is being shown in 60, 80, 100 and 135 grams per square meter weights and will be available to consumers in the autumn 2017.

The company says that since its invention of modern synthetic fleece in 1981, its engineers have continued to create fabric technologies that improve the way products are designed and used in the military, for flame resistance, in workwear and in contract upholstery markets.
