Oerlikon enters strategic partnership

Industry News | April 19, 2017 | By:

The Manmade Fibers segment of the Swiss Oerlikon Group is entering into a strategic partnership with the Italian company Teknoweb Materials s.r.l., which is aimed at extending both companies’ nonwovens portfolio to include disposable nonwovens.

Teknoweb uses its Arvell Technology manufacturing process to produce spunbond-airlaid nonwoven wipes. Arvell Technology dispenses with hydroentanglement and subsequent drying, which the company says results in considerable energy savings.

Combined with Oerlikon Neumag’s airlaid, meltblown and spunbond technologies, as well as its equipment for manufacturing technical nonwovens, the partners predict “excellent market access.”

Oerlikon Manmade Fibers segment creates manmade fiber filament spinning systems, texturing machines, BCF systems, staple fiber systems, nonwovens and artificial turf systems. Teknoweb Materials uses the eco-friendly Arvell Technology for substrates in spunlaced, airlaid and other wipes.
