MtnLogic recently launched its line of apparel built by world-class mountaineers in collaboration with Polartec. MtnLogic founder Peter Whittaker and guides at RMI Expeditions worked directly with Polartec to develop the new alpine workwear.
Whittaker says that traditionally, technical gear is driven by merchant demand, price and trends. For this brand, Whittaker and the guides developed a full range of workwear, designed to the specifications of climbers and mountain guides, people who need protection at high altitudes. Polartec CEO Gary Smith says that the need-dictates-product approach yielded “authentic” apparel.
The MtnLogic collection contains 19 styles developed by more than 60 RMI guides over 12 months. They tested more than 7,000 pieces of apparel over 1.2 million vertical feet of climbing.
The collection was unveiled at the Polartec booth January 10, 2017, at the Outdoor Retailer Winter Show. The MtnLogic collection will become available to consumers in April 2017.
