K-PAK boat goes where you carry it

k-pak-folding-boatIf the idea of storing and hauling a boat has prevented you from enjoying time on the water, a company in North Carolina offers a practical solution: a folding boat. The K-PAK from Folding Boat Co. is a portable, strong and lightweight foldable boat that can easily fit in the trunk of a car to be taken out and assembled in as little as five minutes—wherever you’d like to go for a paddle or do some fishing.

The “skin-on frame” boat weighs only 21 pounds, folds around the frame to put away, and comes in its own backpack, to make transport and storage relatively simple. The backpack is a simple, streamlined alternative to duffels and other carrying cases, and it can also carry a folding paddle and personal flotation device. An inflatable seat and floor inserts are integrated into the single body and can inflate to shape with a hand pump. Besides additional comfort, these pieces improve buoyancy on the water.

It’s made from custom thermal polyurethane fabrics with high tenacity polyester scrim and has an aluminum tubing inner frame. The Fabric seams are RF welded. The boat measures 9 feet, 3 inches when assembled, has a beam width of 30 inches and can displace 280 pounds. Optional camouflage covers are available.
