DermaTherapy bedding helps reduce pressure ulcers

October 14th, 2016 / By: / What's New?

Cincinnati, Ohio-based Standard Textile’s DermaTherapy® bed linens are now being marketed to hospitals and health-care centers to help reduce the production of pressure ulcers, commonly known as bedsores.

The DermaTherapy technology was specifically developed to create the healthcare bedding. The company notes in a press release its silk-like fibers help regulate the patient’s “microclimate”—a combination of heat, moisture, pressure, friction and shear. Conventional hospital bedding often generates excessive moisture, friction and shear, while generating lint and airborne particles—all potential hazards to the patient.

DermaTherapy has already been used extensively in clinical trials throughout the country, and won FDA approval in June.

Standard Textile is a developer of institutional textile and apparel.
