Industry News | September 8, 2016 | By:

High-performance-fiber developer Teijin Group has announced that its Toho Tenax Co. Ltd., the group’s carbon-fibers and composites business, and Shanghai-based Teijin Aramid Asia Co. Ltd., its aramid fibers business, presented at China Composites Expo 2016, Asia’s largest composites exhibition, in Shanghai. Some 470 exhibitors took part in the annual show.

Teijin showcased new applications for carbon- and aramid-fiber-reinforced composites. Toho Tenax exhibited carbon fiber-reinforced plastic products, highlighting widening industrial applications especially for electronic components and digital communications devices such as cameras and tablets.

Teijin Aramid Asia presented two filament yarns, Twaron® Black and Technora® Black, both deep-black versions of high-modulus para-aramid fibers that were originally available only in yellow. The fibers, including the original yellow version, are suited to applications requiring stiffness, strength and lightness, such as boat hulls and sails, motorcycle helmets and other sporting goods. Other aramid composite applications on display included pressure vessels, circuit breaker rods and various uses in civil engineering.

Teijin offers solutions in the areas of sustainable transportation, information and electronics, safety and protection, environment and energy and healthcare. Its main fields of operation are high-performance fibers such as aramid, carbon fibers & composites, healthcare, films, resin & plastic processing, polyester fibers, products converting and IT.
