Haglöfs to use Sciessent odor-fighting fabric treatment

Industry News | July 18, 2016 | By:

Odor-fighting coating developer Sciessent has entered a partnership with Swedish apparel and footwear company Haglöfs to supply its Lava odor-adsorbing technology for use in selected pieces of Haglöfs apparel range.

Non-toxic and bluesign®-approved, Lava effectively traps odor-producing molecules produced by naturally occurring bacteria that live on skin as a result of sweating. The result is apparel that smells fresher longer and requires less laundering. As these odors try to pass through garments, Lava captures them. When the garment is washed, the odor compounds are released while the technology remains on the garment and regenerates the capacity to capture more odor compounds on the next wear.

Wakefield, Mass.-based Sciessent provides anti-odor and antimicrobial solutions that have been incorporated into a wide range of healthcare, industrial and consumer applications, including medical devices such as central-venous catheters and IV-access ports, drinking-water applications like water filters and ice-making equipment, and textiles and apparel.

Haglöfs, headquartered near Stockholm, Sweden, develops clothing, footwear and hardware for outdoor lifestyles. Haglöfs apparel featuring Lava is currently available globally at select retailers and online. The Haglöfs brand is primarily marketed to 25 European and Asian markets.
