Archroma closes acquisition of BASF Performance Chemicals

Industry News | July 10, 2015 | By:

Specialty-chemicals maker Archroma has closed its acquisition of BASF’s global textile chemicals business. BASF Performance Chemicals delivers products and technologies across the entire textile chemicals spectrum, with particular strengths in printing, finishing and coating. The acquisition boosts Archroma’s presence in Asia and other high-growth markets. The combined textiles businesses will remain headquartered in Singapore.

The move is the second strategic transaction by Reinach, Switzerland-based Archroma—a portfolio company of New York City-based private investment firm SK Capital Partners—following its corporate carve-out from Clariant in 2013. The company acquired a stake in Swiss textile dyes and chemicals manufacturer M. Dohmen in 2014.

The closing of the transaction for the legal entity BASF Pakistan (Private) Ltd., Karachi in Pakistan is expected to take place in August 2015.
