The Nemen L.E.D. Jacket is an experimental project by Italian designer Nemen, which expresses the brand’s interest in research in textiles development and functionality in sportswear garments. Optical fibers are woven within the fabric of the jacket, creating an area that’s entirely lit by a system of 12 integrated LEDs powered by two rechargeable lithium batteries, which will power the jacket for eight hours.

The outer fabric is a monofilament of nylon and steel with a polyurethane transparent film, which, while working as a shield to protect the optical fibers, emphasizes the depth effect created by light passing through it. The inner fabric features an aluminum coating that reflects body heat in order to ensure maximum protection from cold weather and wind, while the inner membrane insulates the body for protection even in extreme weather conditions.

The Nemen L.E.D. Jacket stands for state of the art protection in urban and suburban environments, providing high visibility and maximum protection in harsh weather conditions. A careful ergonomic study during development assures that it is also extremely comfortable.
