Garmatex, BASE360 Inc. launch protective sports apparel

What's New? | November 5, 2014 | By:

Vancouver, B.C.-based fabric developer Garmatex Technologies and BASE360 Inc., manufacturer of safety products for high risk sports, will offer new protective hockey wear to the Canadian market. The apparel is designed to save lives through the use of new fabric technologies.

BASE360 Inc. was founded to provide a better form of body protection on the ice, following a traumatic incident where a young hockey player suffered a life-threatening skate laceration. Working in partnership with Garmatex, the company has created apparel that protects exposed, critical areas—the wrist, leg (calf) and ankle—without hampering the athlete’s performance.

BASE360 Inc.’s clothing lines, BASE360® and BODYARMOUR®, include shirts, pants and socks with added Cut Protection Zones™ (CPZ). The company’s apparel is manufactured using Garmatex’s RecoverySkin™ and Coolskin® fabrics, which assist in quick muscle recovery while keeping players cool and dry for optimal performance. The addition of Garmatex’s antimicrobial formula, Bact-Out®, adds bacterial odour management that does not wash out.

This brand has been introduced exclusively to retail brand, Canadian Tire, for the 2014–2015 season. The companies are also in the process of developing a new line of apparel designed specifically for speed skaters.

Garmatex also recently announced a partnership with athletic apparel maker New Era. The two companies have a two-year deal to use Garmetex fabric technologies in a new line of New Era headwear. The partnership marks Garmatex’s introduction to the $2 billion U.S. headwear industry. New Era is the official on-field cap provider of Major League Baseball and the National Football League. The new caps are expected to be available in 2015.
