Small-area, portable lighting

What's New? | May 23, 2014 | By:

Design collective Studio Banana Things introduces its Kangaroo Light, described as a “playful, portable, interactive light,” so flexible that it can be folded and stuffed in the bottom of a bag or backpack and pulled out to provide instant light anywhere. With 24 built-in LEDs, a lithium-ion battery offers at least two hours of nonstop use, and it can be recharged via USB port.

A variety of illumination modes are possible—and touch sensitive—to turn the light on and off, create a random flicker, and adjust the light intensity and light pulse. The exact material to be used is still being assessed, but the company says it will be flexible, lightweight, multifunctional and have a soft hand.

The light project was conceived in collaboration with The Innovation Quarter at Bangor University, U.K.
