Industry News | March 22, 2014 | By:

Randy Rubin, Chairman of The Crypton Companies, Bloomfield Hills, Mich., has announced that Crypton Inc. has purchased Nanotex from private equity and venture capital investors. The company calls it “a strategic acquisition,” expressing particular excitement about Aquapel®, a new nonfluorinated repellency treatment.

Nanotex is a textile technology company whose performance finishes have enhanced many well-known consumer brands; in 2013, Nanotex technologies were on $280 million in branded finished products available at retail worldwide.

It uses a proprietary nanotechnology approach to enhance textiles at the molecular level that provides permanent performance attributes,  such as stain and water resistance, moisture wicking, odor control, static elimination and wrinkle free properties. The end result is performance fabrics that maintain the original comfort, look and feel of the fabric that performs for the life of the product.

Nanotex will now be located at The Crypton Companies headquarters but will maintain sales operations in the US, Asia, India and Europe. In addition, the company will keep distribution centers in Hong Kong, Belgium, Mainland China, and the U.S. The technical transfer capabilities, provided from China and India, will be ongoing, ensuring the continuity and expansion of the company’s global footprint.

The Crypton Companies provide patented, environmentally friendly, textile performance fabrics in the healthcare, hospitality, government, education and contract markets.
