Sustainability is becoming more and more of a fundamental business practice in the textile industry, and, in many cases, companies are looking at it as an innovation pillar and something that gives them a competitive advantage. Customers are more consistently looking for it, and, just like performance claims, these sustainability claims need to be supported by significant and credible data. This means that companies are forced to choose to create their own system or rely on an independent third party to evaluate their products and processes. The decision to use a third party can streamline a company’s management processes, add credibility to reported data, and leverage work already done to reduce operational costs.
