Aerialite® X fabric for composites introduced

What's New? | October 8, 2013 | By:

A partnership between BGF Industries® and Innegra Technologies™, both located in Greensboro, N.C., has produced new, lightweight, high-performance fabrics for composites. Aerialite® X is made using a wide range of fiber combinations from 100 percent Innegra to Innegra hybrid designs.

This latest advancement is comprised of Innegra fiber co-mingled as part of the fiber matrix in both glass and carbon. The result is an exceptionally durable fabric, a combination of JEC Innovation Award-winning Innegra H hybrid fibers and BGF’s custom designs.

For high-impact applications in surfboards, SUP boards, auto racing and protective sports equipment, Aerialite X delivers impact resistance, damage tolerance and vibration reduction critical for today’s extreme sports. Incorporating the lightweight structural fiber Innegra provides toughness while also reducing weight. Additionally, Innegra fibers are hydrophobic and are hydrolytically stable for resistance to chemical breakdown below the waterline.
