Fiber Industries to open new plant

Fiber Industries LLC is preparing to open a new textile production plant in Darlington County, S.C., to be operational in early 2018. According to the South Carolina Dept. of Commerce, the development is projected to bring more than $30 million in capital investment and lead to the creation of at least 135 new jobs.

Fiber Industries is a privately held company established by New York-based investment firm MHR Fund Management LLC, in order to restart the Palmetto Plant in Darlington. The management team of Andrew Rosenfeld and Leandro Carboni has more than 60 years of combined experience in working at senior level positions in the chemical, oil and gas industries, as well as backgrounds in financial, commercial and plant operations.

The company expects to begin hiring for new positions in the fourth quarter of 2017.
