Labon opens fiber plant in South Carolina

Industry News | January 13, 2017 | By:

China-based fiber and textile manufacturer Labon cites the friendly business climate and skilled workforce as prime reasons for locating its first U.S. operation in Orangeburg County, S.C. The company will invest $3.1 million over the next five years, creating 23 new jobs in the process. The company purchased a 15,700-square-foot facility that had been vacant for a year for a plant that will use raw materials to produce fibers.

Operations are expected to begin in January 2017 and a grand opening celebration is slated for early in the year. Labon is the 14th international company to locate in Orangeburg County.

Labon specializes in the research, development and manufacture of technical fibers and textiles for a variety of applications, including sealing, friction, hand protection and flame-retardant products, such as firefighting apparel.
