IFAI’s Advanced Textiles Conference registration opens

Industry News | August 19, 2016 | By:

The Industrial Fabrics Association International (IFAI) presents its Advanced Textiles Conference Oct. 18-19 in Charlotte, N.C. The special two-day event is in conjunction with IFAI Expo running through Oct. 21.

Programming is divided into three tracks: Textile Testing, which includes the opportunity to earn certification from North Carolina State University (NCSU); Automotive; and Materials and Business.

The first day of the conference offers a range of topics of both general and specific interest:

  • Testing presentations will cover fiber, yarn and fabric testing; and testing for comfort, protection and antimicrobial effectiveness. With no standards specifically for wearable electronics, this is a particularly relevant topic at this time.
  • Automotive topics will include “Market Relevant Performance,” bio-based foams, lightweighting, nonwoven battery separators, the impact of changes in airbag materials, as well as presentations on acoustical applications, safety, and thermal control.
  • The Materials and Business track begins with a panel on “Navigating the EPA.” Other presentations cover water repellency without fluorine, omni-repellency, compatibility issues in performance qualities, brand integrity, conductive coatings, fire-blocking barrier fabrics, heat transfer in textiles, carbon and oxide ceramic fibers, and recycled Pyromex in nonwovens.

Following Tuesday’s sessions an Advanced Textiles Conference networking reception will be held for conference attendees and speakers, advanced textiles exhibitors, Advanced Textile Products division members and IFAI board members.

Wednesday’s programming continues with a session on incorporating testing into new product development, an OTEXA session on safety and protective clothing, an overview of U.S. trade laws, and “Knock-Offs and Patents.”

Additionally, a Testing Demo Zone will be open on the show floor throughout Expo. An opening reception for everyone at Expo will be held at the NASCAR Hall of Fame on Wednesday evening.
