TeXtreme reinforces Aero helmet from Giro

What's New? | June 24, 2016 | By:

Santa Cruz, Calif.-based Giro Sport Design has released a new cycling helmet, the Aerohead Ultimate MIPS, that utilizes TeXtreme® carbon-fiber fabrics to create a lighter, stronger and more rigid outer shell. The helmet weighs in at just 455 grams. It went on the market this summer.

Headquartered in Boras, Sweden, TeXtreme technology differs from conventional carbon-fiber materials in that it uses spread tows instead of yarns to produce a fabric. In addition to the bicycling industry, TeXtreme is used in Formula 1, NASCAR and America’s Cup racing, as well as in the manufacture of golf clubs, tennis racquets, hockey sticks, surfboards, rowing shells, skis and snowboards. TeXtreme is also used in various industrial and advanced aerospace applications.
