Sciessent launches fluorocarbon-free CURB water repellent

EcoNote | March 4, 2016 | By:

Antimicrobial and antiodor solutions developer Sciessent, based in Wakefield, Mass., has introduced CURB, a fluorocarbon-free durable water-repellent (DWR) fabric finish for outdoor active wear. Offering enhanced, breathable protection from rain and moisture, CURB delivers the same water repellency as existing technologies without the use of harmful fluorocarbons.

Similar to other DWR treatments, CURB gives textiles a finish that adds liquid-shedding properties to outerwear, causing droplets to bead and roll off the surface while maintaining permeability to air and water vapor. CURB-treated garments stay dry longer and get dry faster than untreated garments helping to extend the life of the garment. The product is also compatible with Sciessent’s Agion Active XL and Lava XL, two of the brand’s recently launched odor-control technologies.

Sciessent’s Agion® antimicrobial solutions have been incorporated into a wide range of healthcare, industrial and consumer applications, including medical devices such as central-venous catheters and IV-access ports, drinking-water applications like water filters and ice-making equipment, and textiles and apparel. The company’s brands include Agion, Agion Active, Agion Active XL, Lava and Lava XL.
