Lightweight, soundproof material selected for 2016 Toyota Prius

EcoNote | March 31, 2016 | By:

Hayashi Telempu Corporation’s V-Wave™ soundproof material made with Teijin Limited’s V-Lap™ nonwoven polyester fabric will be used for soundproofing in the 2016 Toyota Prius.

As environmental regulations continue to become increasingly strict worldwide, there are growing demands for solutions that help improve vehicle fuel efficiency, including weight reduction. Made with recycled polyester, the vertically oriented fibers of Teijin’s V-Lap enables Hayashi Telempu’s V-Wave to perform as well as conventional soundproof material, yet weighs only half as much.

V-Lap and V-Wave are mutually produced in contiguous factories located in Gifu Prefecture, Japan.
