German waterproofing developer Fibertec® has introduced GreenGuard RT, a self-activating fabric protectant that does not require mechanical drying.
The new DWR (durable water repellent) product for waterproof, breathable clothing activates at room temperature, therefore saving energy. The unique patented PUR active ingredient is biodegradable (no PFCs) and bluesign® approved. GreenGuard RT (“room temperature”) achieves a spray rating (a measure of water repellence) of 85 on a scale of 100. In place of PFCs, the water-based, biodegradable product uses polyurethane dendrimers.
The product is suitable for all waterproof, breathable textiles and is available as a spray-on (500 ml trigger spray bottle without propellant) or wash-in (250 ml bottle). The spray-on is better suited to breathable clothing as the waterproofing is applied only externally.
