Huntsman Textile Effects, a provider of dyes and chemicals to the textile and related industries, has introduced its eCool70 concept to make it possible for mills to achieve a range of brilliant shades while using less water and energy for better environmental performance, lower processing costs and enhanced productivity.
The new concept provides brands and mills a cost-effective and eco-friendly way to produce the vivid colors of the Caribbean—brilliant yellows, greens, turquoise and blues. Dyes for this specific shade segment have traditionally had low fixation rates, leading to moderate wash off, limited build up and bad reproducibility, which raises processing costs and reduces productivity. In contrast, the new eCool70 concept offers a sustainable and high-performance solution with an attractive total process cost.
At the same time, the company, a subsidiary of chemical maker Huntsman Corp., said it will work with Panko Vina Corp. of Vietnam to implement a Productivity Improvement Program (PIP) to reinforce the knitwear mill’s growth as a sustainable export business.
The PIP will focus on the Panko Vina mill in Binh Duong Province. The plant already has adopted new technologies such as the AVITERA SE and TERASIL dyes to save energy and water; it now seeks to standardize its processes and work practices to improve yield and product quality.
Implemented in mills around the world, the Huntsman PIP has proven to be capable of reducing water consumption by as much as 50 percent and energy consumption by 30 percent while increasing output by 30 percent or more using existing plant capacity.
