The Textile Protection and Comfort Center (T-PACC) at North Carolina State University’s (Raleigh) College of Textiles is inviting industry members to participate in its Consortium on Outdoor Materials Performance Ensembles, Testing and Evaluation.
According to a press release from the university, “T-PACC intends to establish an industry-based collaborative research consortium to study principles of human performance and comfort and the influence clothing provides to the relationship. Focusing on outdoor and performance clothing, we propose to develop standardized evaluation methods to enable quantification of human comfort and performance aspects. This may result in clothing labels indicating a level of performance, allowing for consumer comparison of product, price, quality and performance.”
Partners will be able to propose areas of study and also have access to data generated and be able to help steer the research project. Details on the consortium agreements, bylaws, etc., are available upon request. Among proposed areas of study are moisture management; clothing, movement and ventilation; defining and establishing standards for comfort, and assessing the psychological aspects of apparel comfort and performance.
