Sproutling, a new San Francisco, Calif.-based technology company has launched its first product, the Sproutling Baby Monitor. Not only does it monitor a baby and the environment, but it will learn and predict a baby’s sleep patterns so that parents can discern when to expect the baby to wake up, or the optimal time to put the baby to bed.
A baby wearable band, a smart charger and a mobile app help parents monitor their baby and provide parents with insights and recommendations about a baby’s sleep. The band and the smart charger sense information about the well-being of the baby and the baby’s environment, which is analyzed to derive patterns. Over time, the product “learns” and provides parents with recommendations via a mobile app to help them better understand their baby’s sleep patterns.
The band measures heart rate, temperature, and position of the baby while the smart charger senses the humidity, noise, and light conditions of the room. While the baby is asleep, parents will be alerted if something out of the ordinary happens, such as a newborn rolling over, or if there’s a significant change in a baby’s heart rate or skin temperature.
The product is designed for babies from birth up to about 18 months—or as long as the child will keep it on.
Information from the company’s website says the first shipment of the product was sold out.
